If you are asking how to rar a file so you can upload it, the easiest way is to get the upload manager for the filehost you intend to use, then configure it to use winrar to compress and split the file automatically.

i downloaded some files but they were all avi. but i could not extract it to play in rar.

I think this thread will help you. After joining the parts, you will need to play it with a media player.
