Many Irish legends involve selkies. Selkies are magical seals who, when on land, shed their skins and become women. Some in the village claim she's an enchantress, one of the mythical seal people who's become trapped in the human form. For Own Quinn and the other fishermen in their wind-swept Irish coastal village, times are hard. Not only is there a fishing drought, but the solitary Quinn grows more remote to his friends and neighbors by the day. Widowed for five years and still mourning his late wife, Quinn sees only a grim future- until a beautiful and mysterious woman he calls Mairead arrives and something magical changes his life.
